Howard Fensterman was honored as “Man of the Year” by the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (CCFA), at the Long Island Chapter’s “Laugh ‘till It Stops Hurting” Spring Comedy Dinner. He stated his biggest honor was to meet and speak with Joan Rivers. "A wonderful woman who made the night for all who attended."
Joan Rivers was a world renowned comedian and actress, best known for her weekly talk show 'Fashion Police' and her appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Joan Rivers died Sept. 4, 2014, at age 81. The comedian's death came a few days after she stopped breathing, while undergoing an endoscopy procedure.
A medical malpractice lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy in Manhattan, where Ms. Rivers died has been settled. The amount of the settlement was not disclosed, but, as stated by the family lawyers, what was disclosed was that Ms. Rivers' doctor allegedly took a selfie while in the operating room and while Ms. Rivers was under anesthesia.
Melissa Rivers, daughter of Joan stated "In accepting this settlement, I am able to put the legal aspects of my mother’s death behind me and ensure that those culpable for her death have accepted responsibility for their actions quickly and without equivocation".
"My heartfelt condolences go out to her daughter and grandson", stated Mr. Fensterman.
